I hate to read and its rare that I pick up a book. Like in the movie "Orange County" I just happened to stumble across this book. I don't know why I picked it up but once I did I couldn't put it down. In a matter of 24 hours I read this book from cover to cover and actually laughed out loud from a book. Well worth the read and the purchase!

A MUST HAVE book on the subject of SS uniforms

If you've been looking for a book that offers BOTH wartime photographs AND multi angle/ close up studies of uniforms from actual collections, this book (and the two other volumes from that trilogy) is EXACTLY what you need. More than just a splendid coffee table book, it is an outstanding source of information about the history/construction and regulation for each and every variety of uniform issued to the various branches of the SS ( both BEFORE and DURING WW2) and it is worth every single penny I invested in it. As a militaria dealer, I could simply not afford not to add it to my collection. If you are interested by that subject and don't have those 3 books, then you are missing an essential resource. If on the other hand you want to know the subject in depth and do not plan to buy each and every book on the market, you have to get THAT serie. My only regret is that Mr. Michael D. Beaver is no longer among us to share his amazing knowledge of German Militaria.

The best research on SS uniform for today

A good structurized research that gives you a full view on this subject.
Only pants and jackets examined, no caps (as a part of uniform). The volume might be 1,5 times thinner: some pages only half filled with information... But rarity of the items and quality of thier analisys allow to consider this book the best research on SS uniform for today.

This book is a must for anyone seriously interested in learning about plants and their relation to the other living kingdoms. It is richly illustrated and covers material clearly and in-depth. I have used the first edition for over eight years as 1) a good read and 2) a reference that continues to inform me as a serious gardener as well as an educated layman. The book emphasizes the evolutionary adaptative aspects of plants to their environment. Starting from the basics of chemistry, it covers plant anatomy, physiology, genetics, and taxonomy. It is a wonderful resource.

About the Author

Elizabeth D. Hutchison, MSW, PhD, received her MSW from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis and her PhD from the University at Albany, State University of New York. She was on the faculty in the Social Work Department at Elms College from 1980 to 1987, and served as chair of the department from 1982 to 1987. She was on the faculty in the School of Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University from 1987 to 2009, where she taught courses in human behavior and the social environment, social work and social justice, and child and family policy; she also served as field practicum liaison. She has been a social worker in health, mental health, aging, and child and family welfare settings. She is committed to providing social workers with comprehensive, current, and useful frameworks for thinking about human behavior. Her other research interests focus on child and family welfare. She currently lives in Rancho Mirage, California where she is active in environmental justice issues facing farm workers in East Coachella Valley.

This is a great book focusing on the human experience from birth to late adult hood. This book really helped me in my generalist social work class and I learned a ton about humans and life itself! I recommend reading this book if you are interesting in the human race and what makes us all tick! Very interesting read!

About the Author
Dr. Christopher Kendris, an accomplished linguist, has worked as an interpreter and translator for the U.S. State Department at the American Embassy in Paris. He holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and diplomas with " Mention Honorable " at the Universite de Paris (en Sorbonne), and at the Institut de Photetique, Paris. He is former Chairman of the Department of Foreign Languages and Supervisor of 16 foreign language teachers at Farmingdale High School, Farmingdale, NY, and has taught foreign language courses at various colleges and universities.

Dr. Theodore Kendris earned his Ph.D. at Universite Laval, Quebec City. He has taught in the Department of English and Foreign Languages at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois as well as at the Hazleton Campus of Penn State University. Dr. Kendris is the author of " Ingles completo: Repaso integral de gramatica inglesa para hispanohablantes, " published by Barron's. He is coauthor of " Spanish Fundamentals and Spanish Verb Conjugations, " also published by Barron's.

exactly what I needed!

I homeschool my 4 children, and I'm using this resource in our quest for a second language. My high-school French classes are far behind me :) so I borrowed this set from the local library. I was so impressed that I bought my own copy! Now all my neighbours think I'm nuts because I wander the neighbourhood muttering in French as I deliver their newspapers, but at least my muttering is perfectly accented and intonated. In all seriousness, this book & CD set is fantastic and I highly recommend it.

Terrific Resource

This book is awesome! It groups words by the way they are spelled and tells you how to pronounce them. It also points out the exceptions. I have only been using this book for a few weeks and I can now clearly distinguish the various sounds. I took a dictation self test the other day, and to my amazement I got nearly all the words correct, even proper names that I did not know before.
If you want to learn to speak and understand spoken French. buy this. You will be pleased.

What a Godsend to come close to sound like a native!

Very helpful in learning the nuances of French pronunciation. Learning the phonetic alphabet with the correct voicing really helps when one looks up a new word in a French dictionary which includes the phonetic spelling. I can pronounce the new word qiuite easily without a struggle.
